St. Hilda’s has got a good reputation for hockey and we hope to keep it this way. Last year we were runners-up in the college league and we won it the year before. Having said that do NOT be intimidated if you don’t rate yourself as a first-class player – the aim of college sport is ultimately to have fun and so far we have managed to combine the two with patches of brilliant and definitely not so brilliant play! So it would be great to get out as many keen new players as possible…
We’ll have a match once a week once the league gets going and we’ll try to sort out practices. We’ll be entering for the girls’ league (which is a round robin) and hopefully mixed cuppers as well (held in the summer). It would be really great to have a fully-fledged Hilda’s mixed team so we’ll be needing our fair share of male freshers to come and compete!
As well as pitch flirtation we hope to make crew dates a regular feature of the season so make sure you come prepared! Hockey crew dates have a certain reputation throughout the university and these raucous nights are not to be missed.
