Get a bit of exercise, become part of a team and get away from the books for a bit!!
St Hilda’s has both an A and a B team for netball so whether you
want to play competitively or just for fun we cater for all
standards. The A team is in division 1 of the college league whereas
the B team is in a lower division. Matches normally take place on
Thursday/Friday lunch times depending on what team you’re in so it
acts as a good way to break up the day. Although all teams have
previously been all girls team you are allowed one boy in each team
so if any guys want to give netball a try just pop along to trials!
If you’re not keen for matches but fancy the odd run-around you’re
very welcome to just come along to practices.
We’ll be holding trials at some point in fresher’s week and it would be great to see lots of you there. Once we’ve got a team together there will be a weekly practice for all involved.
Netball is not only a good way to keep fit and have a laugh but it also provides great social opportunities. You get to know people in college from other years as well as from other colleges. There are also the infamous crew dates… These are socials where you go on a ‘date’ with a men’s sport team from another college (usually involving a curry house, a bottle of wine and fancy dress on occasion…). We already have a crew date lined up with Mansfield football team for early on in the first term, so start rooting out that fancy dress!
If you have any queries at all regarding netball in Hilda’s email the Netball Captains and we’ll try and get back to you as soon as possible We’ll also be present at the Hilda’s Fresher’s Fair so you can also ask us questions then.
